Since the government introduced the 5p plastic bag charge in 2015, its claimed that single-use bag sales have dropped by 95%. This is incredibly misleading.

In 2019, 2.1 billion plastic bags were sold in the UK - that’s nearly 6 million bags every day. ‘Bag for Life’ sales have rocketed with some supermarkets seeing as much as a tenfold increase year on year.

Plastic Free Chesterfield welcomes Planet Patrol for a talk and discussion to find out about their new campaign - The Big Bag Ban - and how you can join in.
