Greenwood Community Tree Planting Grant Scheme

Autumn is here and this year’s tree planting season is fast approaching. The Greenwood Team is once again offering free advice and funding of up to £500 to help schools, community groups and parish councils in Nottinghamshire with tree planting projects. Funding is available to support groups who want to plant trees in schools grounds or on community green spaces. Projects could include planting to provide areas of shade, creating or enhancing a wildlife area, memorial trees, screening unsightly areas or healthy living projects such planting apple trees.

The deadline for applications is 13th December, but early applications are encouraged as funding is limited. For guidance notes and an application form contact the Greenwood Team on 0115 969 6533 or email: greenwood@nottscc.gov.uk.

Villages Will Support Renewables in 25 years?

A number of leading architectural thinkers have produced a series of short essays in which they suggest that villages will increasingly support renewables in the future. The pieces explore how those living in the countryside will respond to new opportunities and threats from globalisation and how villages can come to terms with modern life without losing the past.

Chesterfield Abundance Campaign

Transition Chesterfield are running their annual abundance campaign to pick fruit that would otherwise go to waste. Some goes to the owners, some is shared amongst those who pick it, some is used for juicing at events, and some goes to those who need it: lunch clubs and soup kitchens.

If you would like to get involved email your mobile phone no to hello@transitionchesterfield.org.uk and they will text you a couple of days before each picking event. Adding yourself to this list doesn’t commit you to getting involved.
