Our next CCAN Zoom meeting will be held on Wednesday 22nd July from 7pm till 8pm. We are pleased to announce that Gillian Wright from Energy Local will be joining us to talk about their neighbourhood renewable energy clubs.

Energy Local is transforming the electricity market for communities and small scale renewable generators. Their mission is to help communities get more value from small-scale renewable generation by using the renewable electricity locally.

Energy Local allows a local group of customers and generators to form a coop - an Energy Local Club (ELC). Consumers have smart meters to show when and how much power they are using. Members (consumers and generators) agree a better price for local generators than they would get paid normally and reduce their own consumer bills. It reflects local renewables’ true value and keeps more money local.

Energy Local are currently replicating this model across the country and are looking for communities to share the opportunity. To find out more, please join this CCAN Community Zoom and/or visit their website

This will also be:

  • A chance to discuss the recently announced Green Homes Grant scheme with like-minded people.
  • A follow up on our meeting last month
  • An informal opportunity to ‘meet’ with people from other climate change-focused community groups in the Nottingham/Nottinghamshire/Derby/Derbyshire area.
  • A chance to hear about what other community groups are doing
  • An opportunity to talk about what support you might want from the Community Climate Action Network
