Full details
Transition Town Chesterfield is an exciting new initiative aiming to make our town more resilient and sustainable. Transition Towns are popping up all over the country in response to the twin problems of peak oil (the end of cheap oil) and climate change. We’re a group of ordinary people getting together to find positive and practical local solutions for reducing reliance on oil, relocalising the economy and building community in Chesterfield.
We’re a new group, so we’re in the early stages of putting on events to raise awareness and inspire people. We’ve screened a couple of films, have plans for a cycle tour round Chesterfield’s sustainable buildings, a local food photography competition, and a logo competition. We’re working towards setting up working groups to start projects in different key areas such as local food, energy, transport, and in the long term would like to launch our own currency, create a community garden and hopefully lots more!
Please get in touch if you want to join the adventure…
