Bolsover District Council
12 July 2007
Church Drive, Shirebrook
The project involves five properties in a terrace situated in a Renewal Area in Shirebrook Model Village. These properties are situated on a largely cleared site where new development is to take place shortly following the recent appointment of a preferred developer. The work involves the complete refurbishment of the terrace with new roofs, windows, doors etc and new rear kitchen extensions. The energy conservation work includes photo voltaic roof panels, rainwater harvesting and recycling of grey water. There will also be high levels of insulation. The refurbishment work involves our local Groundwork and Meden Valley Making Places (MVMP) working in partnership with the District Council. The houses have been transferred to MVMP by the Council and funding is being provided by all partners but mainly by MVMP. The Energy Savings Trust is also contributing via Groundwork. The properties are being marketed for sale for owner occupation. Energy use is to be monitored and new owners will be expected to provide relevant information which will be a part of the contract of sale. The new development on the adjacent land will deliver 65 new 2 and 3 bedroomed properties with circa 16 properties having similar energy efficiency measures incorporated in their design.
