Caitlin McCloy
19 September 2007
Although Caitlin McCloy was only born on 4 July 2007 she has already been making a stand against climate change. She is proud to be the youngest supporter of Sustainable Youlgrave, the Derbyshire village in which she lives which has formed a group to tackle sustainability issues.
Caitlin has pledged to wear real nappies for most of the time as she doesn’t want to contribute to the 8 million nappies which go into landfill everyday. She has also persuaded her parents to use environmentally friendly wet wipes and recycled toilet tissue to clean her. She prefers to be carried in a papoose and is encouraging her parents to walk rather than drive. Her dad has even made sure that Caitlin’s night light uses an energy saving lightbulb.
