COP26 Global Day of Action | Hope Valley Climate Action (HVCA)

On the November 6th, COP26 Global Day of Action, over 100 people gathered at the Hope Valley Climate Action (HVCA) rally in Hathersage village, Derbyshire.

The rally gathered local people together to give speeches, and display homemade banners calling for climate action, particularly directed at world leaders present at the COP26 summit. People called for world leaders to:

  • show bold and ambitious leadership,
  • determine scientifically based actions for all countries to take,
  • establish robust mechanisms for monitoring progress,
  • hold countries to account,
  • lead the way in contributing to the Global Climate Fund, and
  • lead by example.

People of all ages gathered to show their support for climate action, with a particular focus on ‘Actions, not words.’

HVCA is a climate action charity with over 600 members, founded in 2019 to tackle the climate emergency on a local and national level.
