Dozens of children from the Oakwood area of Derby had the opportunity to demonstrate pedal power at the Oakwood Gala on 4th August thanks to Marches Energy Agency's Energy Bike.
Dozens of children from the Oakwood area of Derby had the opportunity to demonstrate pedal power at the Oakwood Gala on 4th August thanks to Marches Energy Agency's Energy Bike.Children queued to find out if they could pedal hard enough to power two types of lightbulb - an old incandescent bulb and a newer low energy lightbulb.
Working with Oakwood Neighbourhood Forum for the day, MEA were also able to offer adults free energy saving freebies and refer households to Derby City Council's free loft and cavity wall insulation scheme Warmstreets. The free items given away were worth more than £500 in total and will collectively save those who took them almost £12,000 on their energy bills in the years to come.
