Recycle and Raise Money for Nottinghamshire Hospice

Nottinghamshire residents are being encouraged to recycle drinks cans and plastic bottles to help raise money for local people who are being cared for by Nottinghamshire Hospice, Nottinghamshire County Council Chairman’s chosen charity. The money raised will be used to help those with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers.
Throughout January, Veolia (Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste management contractor) are donating £2 for every tonne of recyclable plastic bottles and cans collected from kerbside recycling bins. 750 tonnes of plastics bottles and cans were collected in 2016, and Veolia have promised to donate an additional £500 bonus to the charity if the total reaches 1,000 tonnes in January this year.

Have Your Say on the Derbyshire Cycle Network

People with an interest in cycling can have their say about Derbyshire County Council’s plans for developing a key cycle network throughout the county. The council has drawn-up a map in consultation with cycling groups and the Sustrans charity to show the most important routes which need improving or building to make Derbyshire the most connected county for cycling in England.
Councillor Trevor Ainsworth, Cabinet Support Member for Highways, Transport and Infrastructure, said: ‘We're living through a golden age of cycling with more people choosing to get on their bike to travel to work or for leisure − which is great news. Now we want to know what people think of the proposed cycling network and tell us whether they would like routes adding, amending or removing altogether.’

Can You Help Measure Pollution in Belper?
Fri, 5 January 2018Transition Belper and the Belper Neighbourhood Plan team are conducting a pollution survey and need your help. They are looking for locations to place devices that will measure nitrogen dioxide levels; these need to be where people live and walk close to busy traffic. The survey follows the recent discovery of illegal levels of pollution in Wirksworth and Buxton and the aim is to understand the impact of proposed developments on pollution, congestion, noise and safety.
