Talk: Carbon, Climate, Water and Wildlife - the Scientific Work to combat the Catastrophe of Bare Peat

Date:
Thu, 20/07/2017

7:30pm
The Royal Hotel, Hayfield, High Peak SK22 2EP
Organised by Sustainable Hayfield

Joe Margetts and Tom Aspinall from the Moors For the Future (MFTF) project will talk about the underpinning science behind their work to conserve the South Pennine Moors. MFTF is the biggest moorland conservation project in Europe and Joe and Tom will explain the amazing impact it is already having on the health of the local peat blanket. Peat bogs store the bulk of the UK's land-based carbon and have steadily degraded over the last 200 years. This inspirational project is reversing that damage. The event will begin with a short AGM for Sustainable Hayfield.
