Whistlewood, a community-owned woodland, will open its doors (woodland!) for everyone to have a go at different activities including: crafts, green woodworking, living willow, campfire cooking, guided tours and a fitness trail. This is a free event with free food and drink and activities for all ages. Find out about exciting plans to build a new straw-bale, timber framed roundhouse on the site. At 2pm there will be a presentation of the design of Whistlewood by Sarah Spencer, lead designer to the project. This will be the culmination of three year’s work on Sarah’s Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. There will be an opportunity ask questions about the design of the site, and also of the organisational structure and ways of working. There will be an opportunity to find out how to become a member and invest in the roundhouse and associated infrastructure. Without Whistlewood’s fantastic members none of this would have happened. www.whistlewoodcommon.org
