The Climate Change challenge has been in the news of late with world leaders sharing aspirations for reducing the impact of human pollution. There is a very big gap between agreeing climate goals and actually creating a flourishing ‘low carbon’ social economy.
Commercial interests will develop technologies which will increase energy efficiency in many avenues of our lives.
Governments will work to influence the market through legislation, subsidies and support to research and development.
Local authorities continue to be active partners in supporting communities, delivering services and planning ahead.
The Community Sector however have a pivotal role to play in envisaging resilient sustainable communities and demonstrating what can be achieved at neighbourhood level in the journey towards building a low carbon future.
This conference will give you the opportunity to hear from groups who, in addition to delivering carbon savings, are actively working to develop the experience, conversations, attitudes, expertise, capacity, mechanisms, and resources needed to support us in leading low carbon lives.
Planned discussion groups:
Creative Consultation
Fracking
Carbon Conversations programme

Buxton Economic Resilience Study
