Job Opportunity: DE-Carbonise Project Officer for Derby
Thu, 17 October 2019Derby City Council is recruiting an Officer for its DE-Carbonise project. DE-Carbonise is a comprehensive low carbon support and grants programme for small and medium sized businesses across Derby and Derbyshire.
The project will enable businesses to:
1. reduce their carbon emissions by making their sites and activities more efficient;
2. improve their competitiveness by reducing their energy and resource costs;
3. attract new customers through networking events and activities;
4. develop and prototype new low carbon products;
5. improve their own green credentials enabling them to access low-carbon supply chains.
DE-Carbonise will reduce the carbon emissions of business activities, products and processes by providing carbon reduction audits and grants (up to GBP 20,000), alongside access to state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge technical expertise to foster improvement and innovation. It is a three year partnership project between Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council and the University of Derby and follows on from the successful Derby and Derbyshire Energy Efficiency (D2EE) project.
The Council is looking to recruit a new Project Officer, to join the existing professional and highly motivated team, to coordinate and deliver this exciting new project which is part-funded by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
Empowering Our Communities Fund Open to Applications in High Peak & Derbyshire Dales

Applications will be accepted from organisations in the area in which ENW operates, which includes High Peak and some of the Derbyshire Dales area.

Free Tree Scheme is Back in South Derbyshire

Individuals and community groups have until 28th October to apply for free trees from South Derbyshire District Council who are working in partnership[ with the National Forest Company. As in previous years, two trees are available per households and 10 per school or community group. This year’s species are cherry plum, hazel, crab apple and holly.

Amber Valley Plans to Plant 2500-500 Trees Per Year
Fri, 11 October 2019Amber Valley Borough Council is proposing to plant between 2500 and 500 trees per year over the next 5-010 years as part of its ‘Forest for the Future’ initiative. The council’s plans involve 40 acres of woodland in locations around the borough. The council believes that the tree planting programme would be capable of sequestering 6,400 tonnes of carbon, the equivalent of six years of the council’s carbon emissions. Nottingham City Council is a Climate Champion Finalist
Fri, 11 October 2019Nottingham City Council is a finalist in the Guardian Public Service Awards because of it’s work on climate change. The council ring fences its workplace parking levy for renewable transport projects, puts solar panels on all council homes, has the world’s largest fleet of biogas double decker buses and is aiming to plant at least 10,000 trees by 2023.
