Torrs Hydro Community Share Offer Success

The Board of Directors of Torrs Hydro New Mills Ltd would like to thank everyone for their interest and support for their community share offer.
They set an ambitious target of 25,000 shares to raise funds to pay for significant modifications to improve the plant's energy output. The share offer is now closed. They had over 50 share applications and have a board meeting scheduled for early February. Offer letters will be sent out as soon as possible after that.
They have also seen an increase in volunteers offering help. They are delighted to know that green energy and "doing your bit" for climate change is an important issue at a local level.
Sherwood Forest Trust Turns 25, Persevering Under a Challenging year
Mon, 15 February 2021The Sherwood Forest Trust is a small local charity focused on landscape conservation and heritage. They work across the whole area that once formed the Royal Hunting Forest of Sherwood in Nottinghamshire. This year marks their 25th birthday.
This past year, their usual means of raising funds and awareness via outdoor events, like the Major Oak Woodland Festival, were not possible. Help from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Green Recovery Challenge Fund, and donations from supporters have offered a real lifeline.
Thanks to these grants, they will be able to embark on a new heathland restoration and woodland planting programme in the spring.

The nursery team are all interested in growing naturally, as part of a wider food growing network in Belper. Perennials are great for soil life, can capture carbon, make gardening less effort, and with a good selection of plants they can encourage more wildlife into your garden.
They would like your input to shape the way they develop as a nursery by filling in a short survey about how, what and why you buy plants. You can enter a prize draw where you might win the gardening related prize worth £15.
Green Homes Grant Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire residents can benefit from the Green Homes Grant Nottinghamshire, which is a Local Authority Delivery Scheme run by the Nottingham Energy Partnership, E.ON, and Nottinghamshire County Council.
This scheme allows eligible residents to benefit from free home improvement measures, including green domestic heating systems such as air source heat pumps, free solar panels to generate your own renewable electricity or hot water, and insulation measures.

New foot-cycle Bridge Over the River Trent in Nottingham

Following a successful campaign by cycle and other local environmental campaigners, plans for a new foot-cycle bridge over the River Trent in Nottingham are going ahead. It will be the first new bridge over the Trent in Nottingham for more than 60 years. Developers hope to complete the £9.2 million project by Spring 2023.
Since it began in August 2014, Pedals (Nottingham Cycling Campaign) has been leading the campaign, working closely with 4 other local groups. In late 2019, Nottingham City Council was successfully in securing funding for the bridge as part of DfT’s Transforming Cities Fund. In December 2020, Amey Consulting were appointed by the City Council as Design Contractors.
The Bridge Steering Group, which includes representatives from Pedals (Nottingham Cycling Campaign) and Nottingham Local Access Forum, is very keen to continue to work closely with the City Council and other partners to make the project successful.
Above is a CGI visual (from Pell-Frischmann Transport Planning Consultants) of what the bridge might look like. The final design will not be finalised for some months yet.
