AECB webinars

AECB (Association for Environment Conscious Building) is a network of individuals & companies with a common aim of promoting sustainable building. The AECB runs free webinars to share specialist knowledge. Although every AECB webinar is completely free for all to attend, the webinar recordings are usually only for AECB members. However, they have made them accessible to all during lockdown.

Lincoln Climate Commission seeking volunteers
Mon, 11 May 2020The Lincoln Climate Commission emerged from a collaboration with the City of Lincoln Council, Siemens, Transition Lincoln and the University of Lincoln. Since then the group has expanded to include the valuable input from a range of businesses and organisations who wish to work together to make a positive choice on issues relating to energy, carbon, weather and climate.
They are currently looking for volunteer members who can help drive forward that vision in a practical way. Do you know someone who is based in Lincoln & district that would be interested?

11th Petersberg Climate Dialogue Held Virtually for the First Time

The 11th Petersberg Climate Dialogue (PCD) took place virtually for the first time this year on 27th and 28th April. PCD is an established annual meeting enabling countries to have informal political discussion on global climate action.
The event was co-hosted by Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and designated COP26 President, Alok Sharma, and the German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Svenja Schulze.
On 28 April 2020, over 30 climate ministers and high-level representatives met via video call for day two of the event. Participants included UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. The focus this year was on how we can organise green economic recovery, and how countries can proceed with ambitious climate action.
The event concluded with a commitment to a green recovery built on solidarity.

City Leaders Around the World Announce Measures Encouraging Active Transport
Mon, 11 May 2020Cities around the world are already planning for life after COVID-19 to avoid overwhelming the transport system, ensure public safety and support sustainable recovery from the crisis.
Many cities have announce measures that have been designed to allow people to still move around cities, even when social distancing.
In the UK, the Scottish government has pledged £10m to create pop-up walking and cycling routes. In London, boroughs including Lambeth and Hackney have announced plans for widening pavements, introducing traffic-free roads, and improving walking and cycling routes.
Transport secretary, Grant Shapps, has suggested one-way systems, staggered work times and measures to encourage cycling or walking to work.
In Paris, the mayor has allocated €300m for a network of cycle lanes. Milan will be transforming 22 miles of streets this summer, expanding cycling and walking space to protect residents.
