Extension to consultation on exploratory shale gas drilling in Bassetlaw

People are to be given extra time to have their say on a planning application for an exploratory shale gas well-site on land off the A634 in Bassetlaw. Dart Energy is seeking permission to carry out exploratory drilling for shale gas at the site, known as Tinker Lane. No hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, would take place as part of the proposal. See Dart Energy's application and have your say before 22 July.

Brexit will not affect Small Wind Co-op’s share offer

A co-operative currently offering shares in three small wind turbines – one in Scotland - have confirmed that they do not expect the recent Referendum result to affect the project. They are urging people to continue to invest in the project before the share offer closes on 22nd July.

A statement on the Small Wind Co-op’s website said: ‘It’s pretty clear that even in the case of Scottish independence, the Feed-in Tariff will be continued – the SNP have made a specific commitment on this front… In fact, we have already received messages from people saying they plan to join the Small Wind Co-op partly because other investment alternatives seem to have just become a whole lot more risky… We know that decarbonising our electricity supply is way too important to put on hold while the political mess gets sorted out. There are difficult times ahead and we need every wind turbine we can get.’

The project consists of two turbines in Wales and one in Scotland. The minimum investment is £100 and it takes just two minutes to sign up.

IGas submits Tinker Lane shale gas application

IGas has confirmed it has applied for planning permission to drill for shale gas at Tinker Lane, in Bassetlaw, north Nottinghamshire. This is the company’s second application for shale gas exploration in the area. Later this summer, councillors are expected to decide on proposals for two wells at Springs Lane, Misson.

The Misson application does not include fracking and IGas has said the Tinker Lane application will not either. But the company has said it may apply later to hydraulically fracture at the sites in future.
