Town based group promoting plastic reduction, use of energy saving light bulbs, energy efficiency measures and the take up of renewable energy resources.
The plastic bag initiative here in Wirksworth is going extremely well. We have succeeded in reducing the consumption of plastic bags from around 8,000 a week to about 3,000. Our re-useable cloth bags have sold extremely well with over 2,000 purchased, nearly a third of the population.
